16 This thing is not good that thou have done. As LORD lives, ye are worthy to die because ye have not kept watch over your lord, LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his head.

16 You failed in your duty, Abner! I swear by the living LORD that all of you deserve to die, because you have not protected your master, whom the LORD made king. Look! Where is the king's spear? Where is the water jar that was right by his head?"

16 You’re a complete failure! I swear by the living LORD that you and your men deserve to die for not protecting the LORD’s chosen king. Look and see if you can find the king’s spear and the water jar that were near his head.”

16 This thing that you’ve done is no good. As ADONAI lives, all of you deserve to die, because you have not kept watching over your lord, ADONAI’s anointed. So now, look around, where are the king’s spear and the water jar that were at his head?”

16 “What you have done is not good. As יהוה lives, you are worthy to die, because you have not guarded your master, the anointed of יהוה. And now see where the sovereign’s spear is, and the jug of water that was by his head.”
