6 But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God's willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind.

James 1

6 Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.

6 But when you ask, you must believe that God will do it. You must not doubt and think, Perhaps God will not do it. A person who doubts is like a wave on the sea. The wind drives it this way and that way.
