2 Kings 1

17 So he died, according to the word of the LORD that Elijah had spoken. Because Ahaziah had no son, Joram[2] succeeded him as king in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah.

17 So Ahaziah died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken. [1]Joram [also a son of Ahab] reigned in Israel in his stead in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because Ahaziah had no son [but his brother].

17 So Ahaziah [the son of King Ahab] died in accordance with the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And because he had no son, Jehoram [his younger brother] became king [of Israel, the northern kingdom] in his place in the[6] second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah [the southern kingdom].

17 So he died, just as the Lord, through Elijah, had said he would. Joram became king in Ahaziah’s place. This was during the second year Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat was king of Judah. Joram ruled because Ahaziah had no son to take his place.
