Word of the Lord that Came to Hosea
1 דבר The word יהוה of the LORD אשׁר that היה came אל unto הושׁע Hosea, בן the son בארי of Beeri, בימי in the days עזיה of Uzziah, יותם Jotham, אחז Ahaz, יחזקיה מלכי kings יהודה of Judah, ובימי and in the days ירבעם of Jeroboam בן the son יואשׁ of Joash, מלך king ישׂראל׃ of Israel.
Hosea Commanded to Take a Wife
2 תחלת The beginning דבר of the word יהוה of the LORD בהושׁע by Hosea. ויאמר said יהוה And the LORD אל to הושׁע Hosea, לך Go, קח take לך אשׁת unto thee a wife זנונים of whoredoms וילדי and children זנונים of whoredoms: כי for זנה hath committed great whoredom, תזנה hath committed great whoredom, הארץ the land מאחרי from יהוה׃ the LORD.
The Children of Hosea and Gomer
3 וילך So he went ויקח and took את גמר Gomer בת the daughter דבלים of Diblaim; ותהר which conceived, ותלד and bore לו בן׃ him a son.
4 ויאמר said יהוה And the LORD אליו unto קרא him, Call שׁמו his name יזרעאל Jezreel; כי for עוד yet מעט a little ופקדתי and I will avenge את דמי the blood יזרעאל of Jezreel על upon בית the house יהוא of Jehu, והשׁבתי and will cause to cease ממלכות the kingdom בית of the house ישׂראל׃ of Israel.
5 והיה And it shall come to pass ביום day, ההוא at that ושׁברתי that I will break את קשׁת the bow ישׂראל of Israel בעמק in the valley יזרעאל׃ of Jezreel.
6 ותהר And she conceived עוד again, ותלד and bore בת a daughter. ויאמר And said לו קרא unto him, Call שׁמה her name לא רחמה Lo-ruhamah: כי for לא I will no אוסיף more עוד more ארחם have mercy upon את בית ישׂראל of Israel; כי but נשׂא אשׂא׃
7 ואת בית the house יהודה of Judah, ארחם But I will have mercy upon והושׁעתים and will save ביהוה them by the LORD אלהיהם their God, ולא and will not אושׁיעם save בקשׁת them by bow, ובחרב nor by sword, ובמלחמה nor by battle, בסוסים by horses, ובפרשׁים׃ nor by horsemen.
8 ותגמל Now when she had weaned את לא רחמה Lo-ruhamah, ותהר she conceived, ותלד and bore בן׃ a son.
9 ויאמר Then said קרא Call שׁמו his name לא עמי Lo-ammi: כי for אתם ye לא not עמי my people, ואנכי and I לא will not אהיה׃ be
10 והיה shall be מספר Yet the number בני of the children ישׂראל of Israel כחול as the sand הים of the sea, אשׁר which לא cannot ימד be measured ולא nor יספר numbered; והיה and it shall come to pass, במקום in the place אשׁר where יאמר it was said להם לא not עמי my people, אתם unto them, Ye יאמר it shall be said להם בני unto them, the sons אל God. חי׃ of the living
11 ונקבצו be gathered together, בני Then shall the children יהודה of Judah ובני and the children ישׂראל of Israel יחדו be gathered together, ושׂמו and appoint להם ראשׁ head, אחד themselves one ועלו and they shall come up מן out of הארץ the land: כי for גדול great יום the day יזרעאל׃ of Jezreel.
