1 משׂא The burden נינוה of Nineveh. ספר The book חזון of the vision נחום of Nahum האלקשׁי׃ the Elkoshite.
2 אל God קנוא jealous, ונקם revengeth; יהוה נקם revengeth, יהוה ובעל and furious; חמה and furious; נקם will take vengeance יהוה לצריו on his adversaries, ונוטר reserveth הוא and he לאיביו׃ for his enemies.
3 יהוה The LORD ארך slow אפים to anger, וגדול and great כח ונקה and will not at all acquit לא ינקההוה the LORD בסופה in the whirlwind ובשׂערה and in the storm, דרכו hath his way וענן and the clouds אבק the dust רגליו׃ of his feet.
4 גוער He rebuketh בים the sea, ויבשׁהו and maketh it dry, וכל all הנהרות the rivers: החריב and drieth up אמלל בשׁן Bashan וכרמל and Carmel, ופרח and the flower לבנון of Lebanon אמלל׃
5 הרים The mountains רעשׁו quake ממנו at והגבעות him, and the hills התמגגו melt, ותשׂא is burned הארץ and the earth מפניו at his presence, ותבל yea, the world, וכל and all ישׁבי׃ that dwell
6 לפני before זעמו his indignation? מי Who יעמוד can stand ומי and who יקום can abide בחרון in the fierceness אפו of his anger? חמתו his fury נתכה is poured out כאשׁ like fire, והצרים and the rocks נתצו are thrown down ממנו׃ by
7 טוב good, יהוה The LORD למעוז a stronghold ביום in the day צרה of trouble; וידע and he knoweth חסי׃ them that trust
8 ובשׁטף flood עבר But with an overrunning כלה an utter end יעשׂה he will make מקומה of the place ואיביו his enemies. ירדף shall pursue חשׁך׃ thereof, and darkness
9 מה What תחשׁבון do ye imagine אל against יהוה the LORD? כלה an utter end: הוא he עשׂה will make לא shall not תקום rise up פעמים the second time. צרה׃ affliction
10 כי For עד while סירים thorns, סבכים folded together וכסבאם and while they are drunken סבואים drunkards, אכלו they shall be devoured כקשׁ as stubble יבשׁ dry. מלא׃ fully
11 ממך of יצא There is come out חשׁב thee, that imagineth על against יהוה the LORD, רעה evil יעץ counselor. בליעל׃ a wicked
12 כה Thus אמר saith יהוה the LORD; אם Though שׁלמים quiet, וכן and likewise רבים many, וכן yet thus נגזו shall they be cut down, ועבר when he shall pass through. וענתך Though I have afflicted לא thee no אענך thee, I will afflict עוד׃ more.
13 ועתה For now אשׁבר will I break מטהו his yoke מעליך from off ומוסרתיך thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder. אנתק׃ thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.
14 וצוה hath given a commandment עליך concerning יהוה And the LORD לא thee, no יזרע be sown: משׁמך of thy name עוד more מבית out of the house אלהיך of thy gods אכרית will I cut off פסל the graven image ומסכה and the molten image: אשׂים I will make קברך thy grave; כי for קלות׃ thou art vile.
15 הנה Behold על upon ההרים the mountains רגלי the feet מבשׂר of him that bringeth good tidings, משׁמיע that publisheth שׁלום peace! חגי keep יהודה O Judah, חגיך thy solemn feasts, שׁלמי perform נדריך thy vows: כי for לא shall no יוסיף more עוד more לעבור pass through בך בליעל the wicked כלה thee; he is utterly נכרת׃ cut off.
