21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elijah? And he said, I am not. Art thou a prophet? [or the prophet?] And he answered, Nay.

22 Therefore they said to him, Who art thou? That we give an answer to these that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

23 He said, I am a voice of a crier [or a voice of a man crying] in desert, Dress ye the way of the Lord, as Isaiah the prophet, said.
